Biden day 2

Joseph Biden... a 2008 Democratic hopeful for the highest office in the land. One of the hottest issues these days is what the candidates will do in the Middle East, namely the 52nd state of the USA, Iraq.

Senator Biden has a 5 point plan for Iraq:

1. Keep a central government but divide the country into "breathing spaces" for the factions in separate regions.

2. The faction without the control of oil revenue in the country needs the greatest amount of support. That faction is the Sunni Muslims in Iraq.

3. Major support is needed for the region and those from the oil-rich nations that surround Iraq should offer support with job creation and protection of minorities.

4. A major diplomatic initiative is needed to lasso support from major world powers and immediate neighbors to the objectives of the political viewpoints of Iraq.

5. Most US soldiers would return to the US by summer of 2008 while keeping a small contingent of military officials to keep neighbors honest and to thwart any actions by terrorists.

Interesting ideas. Check back everyday to see more of Senator Biden's viewpoints and other tidbits about the politico till the end of the week.
