Joe Biden week!

Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Nov 20th, 1942. He's a Democratic senator from Delaware and is running for the 2008 Democratic nomination for president.

Senator Biden is the first candidate for my 8-week long series in which I will devote a week of blogging to each of the 8 Democratic candidates. If we have the fortunate luck of additional candidates, I'll think about adding them to the series.

So here's to Joe Biden!!

Damn IKEA commercial!

Okay, so maybe I shouldn't be too upset about IKEA's new Home is the Most Important Place Commercial because I don't live in a cardboard box (yet, at least). It's still a little unnerving to see an unfortunate wood and tarp shelter built onto a broken car in a dark alley in a home furnishings commercial. IKEA is really cheap but it's not that cheap! Arghhhh

Politicking

So last night I put up some of the most flattering pics of the Democratic nominees that I could find on Google images.
Notice there is no mention of the Repubs? Yeah that was intentional. (haha).
But I guess I'll mention them here and then be done with it until I need to rant. Rudy "9-11 is my middle name" Guiliani, Fred "I'm a zombie" Thompson and a load of other old, white men who want this country to revert back to the 18th century (a**holes).
It is sad to me that there is a group of people that actually believe what George Bush or Pat Robertson spew. Without this small group, the Repubs wouldn't have a chance in hell, but unfortunately this group has a very high rate of voting. Along with the elderly who love to vote for Repubs and are deathly afraid of taxes and the demise of Medicare/Social Security, the GOP has been able to keep the death grip on their archaic viewpoints and a stronghold on most political offices in this country.
Anyway, everyone needs to vote. If you're not registered, get off yo ass and do it. And help other people to get registered as well. Go out and get an HIV test as well, because we all know that Trojan sells an infected product. Active participation in this democracy gives a sort of legitimacy to political arguments and even some legitimacy to the spread of democracy throughout the world (whatever your feelings are on that matter).
One more thing: Everyone knows that Bill O'Reilly is a racist bastard, I only wish he would realize that fact himself. And keep his damn mouth shut. A**hole.

Superbad!

Haha, so I just got back from seeing this movie... it was so good!
I love the whole 70's feel to it with current slang.
I don't want to give anything away, but the cop characters were freaking hilarious.

Run out and see this movie... it was so freaking good! (yeah I know it came out like a month ago, but I'm slow... so still go see it!)

Oh Ubuntu...

So the past few days I've been struggling with downloading Ubuntu... it's actually been quite ridiculous.

First, this past weekend I used this program called Revo Unistaller which I read about on Lifehacker.com. Everything was going fine, I thought I was deleting unimportant stuff. Turns out that I had deleted so much stuff like registry keys etc that I couldn't use my computer efficiently. Completely annoying. Couldn't use Itunes, wouldn't let me delete or repair Itunes, my Start button wouldn't show any programs, Microsoft Office was gone... it was a mess! After a day of being so angry, I found system restore and everything was back to normal. This was when I decided that I had enough with Windows and anything Microsoft. Also, that anger comes from the guilt I feel for not buying a Mac instead... So I looked to Ubuntu...

Ubuntu actually means "humanity to others" and is an African concept. Sounds pretty good to me. Oh and there is no threat of virus, trojans or any other malware. Even better. And any applications that were made for the platform are FREE! I love free. :)

So Sunday I began downloading the ISO file to complete the installation of Ubuntu on my PC. 4 hours later a friend using my computer accidentally closed the download down. Krap. I started the download and went to bed, dreaming of the computing heaven I would have the next day. Monday morning, got up early, realized that I had downloaded the wrong version for my computer. Started the download again. 6 hours later... made the installation CD and everything... ohh there's something wrong with the CD!! Downloaded again and Tuesday night made a CD and rebooted and I downloaded the wrong version for my computer again! Yeah it sucked but I haven't lost the hope!

Persistence, persistence... So last night I was on Digg and I found this program that downloads Ubuntu right to Windows! No need to download the ISO and make an installation CD! It's a program called Wubi and I'll be DLing soon. Hope it's much faster.... I'm determined! Wish me luck!!!

Just a thought...

Barack Obama is everywhere! I found this pic on Drudgereport.com and he's on The Daily Show right now. This much press is probably a good thing and many campaigns around the country wish they had his popularity. Haha bastards. :P

I watched Larry King's interview with Bill Clinton tonight and it caused a real conundrum for me. The thought of Bill and Hillary Clinton being back in the White House does have a soothing effect. But that would I believe hinder this country from having the new day that it needs and deserves.

The best thing about this country, I think, is the sheer number of differing viewpoints on things from language to the right of a woman to choose her reproductive outcome. It is going to be super interesting to see how the 2008 election turns out.

Until then, keep up on what the candidates are doing and saying and other issues happenings in this country and the world. Also, pay attention to what The Daily Show and The Colbert Report say in these upcoming months. They may be satire shows, but they have such a good message that everyone should consider. Go to indecision2008.com to stay informed. :o)

Keepon dancing

This song will make you keep on dancing!

Yes, it is true

The final episode of Flight of the Conchords aired on Sunday night. Hopefully HBO will bring the great show back for subsequent seasons. (Oh how I hope!)

Other news: I recently created a Google Group for me and my cousins and it should be great bc we are all so far flung and don't have much contact together. This will be a centralized place for all of us :) Very exciting! Why didn't we think of this sooner??

Dmv drivers license prank

Theze guys are my heroes

Saturday

As you can tell, I support Barack Obama for the 2008 presidential election. It's something I feel very strongly about. He's someone with good values, a great background and isn't the run-of-the-mill politico. The same could be said for Hillary Clinton in a way, but she's been a Governor's wife, First Lady of the US, a US Senator from New York, so she's had a chance to be burdened and demoralized by the state of politics in this country. We need someone who's completely new to the whole game and is never going to detach from the American people. Someone who fills this country with hope and general positivity towards the government. At this point I feel like Obama is the only one who can possibly do this.

This election cycle will be one of the most interesting in a long time and I really hope that more people get out and vote this time around. We are long overdue for a reawakening here in this country.
